Last Friday of the month is for
Monthly Poetry Group to rhyme.
Diane, Mimi, and I take turns,
"Go Away" is the theme this time.
As usual, today I'll try,
a poem to write . . . or fudge.
Whether I'm successful or not,
you get to be the judge. Go Away
"Go away,"
I heard him say,
stopped in traffic, to our dismay,
seems road work was underway.“Go away,”
I heard him say,
this was on the very next day,
woodpecker on the house, pecking away.
"Go away,"
I heard him say,
on the kitchen counter there lay,
so much junk mail on display.
"Go away,"
I heard him say,
eating out on the deck that day,
a bee had decided to join the buffet.
Smothered Chicken Casserole
"Go away,"
I heard him say,
turned to see him look my way.
We'd gotten in a fight that day.
"Go away,"
I'd heard him say,
next words, made everything OK:
"pick a beach, we'll go and play."

My favorite Go Away!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteYep. When the Words 'Go Away' become special! (Just a note: remind me not to read your posts when I'm HUNGRY! Another note: this looks fabulous!!) ;)
ReplyDeleteSo easy, Diane, and so yummy. Hope you try it.
DeleteGo away with a change of scenery is my favorite going away. Even if it's just a new place to take a winter walk.
ReplyDeleteI agree, although warmer weather right about now would be a blissful change
DeleteI do love a good casserole.
ReplyDeleteYes, especially in the winter, comfort food.
DeleteSometimes taking a break like that is the best idea of all!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
DeleteI'd 'go away' to the beach any day!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's mighty cold here in the Midwest.
DeleteLove the poetry. So positive. I also loved the recipe. Especially because it contains Onions. Onions are high in quercetin. A flavonoid great for your heart, eyes, a force against diabetes, weight loss properties, and cancer. Onion peels are the richest in quercetin more than any other source. Broccoli contains quercetin as well. Only increasing the health benefits even more.
ReplyDeleteI knew broccoli was healthy, but I had no idea that onioins were as well.
DeleteI like onions, and may think to make this dish. If you have a chance post a cold salad or two. Cold salads are my go to when I want to eat on the run.
ReplyDeleteAlthough there are onions in this recipe, I certainly wouldn't call it an onion dish. And I have many cold salads published here on the blog, just go to the "recipe box" tab at the top of the page, and scroll down to "salads."
