Here’s today’s picture. It was submitted by The Momisodes.
1. Little Sister: Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more.
2. Big Sister: No problem, we can get home, I’ll just call Mom. There’s a cell tower nearby, right?
3. Big Sister to Little Sister: What are you looking at?
Little Sister: I’m watching out for Flying Monkeys.
4. Big Sister: What you need to be watching for is hot air balloons. That’s how you get home from the moon, right?
5. Big Brother to Little Sister: I sure hope you’re wearing your ruby slippers . . .

BEST Meatball Subs
©www.BakingInATornado.com Printable Recipe
Ingredients:
8 French rolls or chunks of French bread
8 slices smoky provolone
2 # ground beef
2 eggs
½ cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
¼ cup grated parmesan
1 ½ tsp minced fresh garlic
2 TBSP minced dried onion
¾ tsp seasoned salt
1 TBSP parsley
Homemade marinara Sauce, my recipe here: MY RECIPE HERE
Directions:
*Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
*Gently mix together the beef, eggs, bread crumbs, parmesan, garlic, onion, seasoned salt and parsley. Form into 24 balls and place onto a baking sheet with a lip.
*Bake for 45 minutes.
*While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce and keep warm.
*Just before the meatballs are ready, slice and toast the rolls. Place a slice of provolone in each roll and wrap in tin foil to keep warm and melt the cheese.
*Remove the meatballs from the oven. With tongs, move the meatballs onto paper towels to dry the bottoms.
*Unwrap and open the rolls. Spread about 2 – 3 TBSP marinara over the bottom of each roll. Top with 2 to 3 meatballs, then another 2 – 3 TBSP marinara. Serve with more marinara for dipping.
Love the Wizard of Oz references!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kind of got on a roll with those . . .
DeleteYeah, Kids. Hot air balloons and cell towers. they must exist.
ReplyDeleteNot Kansas, but probably Utah. There are some hills and rocks in Capital Reef N.P. that look just like that!
No Toto anywhere to be found either!
DeleteI love a Wizard of Oz reference or two :-)
ReplyDeleteOh good 'cause I totally went there this month!
DeleteBwahahahaha!
ReplyDeleteSadly, this looks a lot like my yard this year.
LOL, the moles are doing a similar landscape job in my yard too.
DeleteI think if they all wore ruby red slippers in a hot air balloon they would get home sooner. LOL...
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love meatball subs.
LOL, I like the way you think.
Delete#1 is my favorite. The sub looks YUMMY!! **checks watch to see if it's dinner time yet**
ReplyDeleteWe're having them for dinner again tomorrow!
DeleteMmm..french bread and provolone. I wonder if I can get someone to deliver those in this 100 degree weather!
ReplyDeleteLove the Wizard of Oz/Moon theme on the captions. #1 was my fave :)
Thanks, as always, for the smiles <3
I don't know about delivery but if you stop by tomorrow night at dinner time . . .
DeleteToto and ruby slippers...did someone watch Oz recently? Great captions
ReplyDeleteHa, how did you guess?
DeleteOMG! I have been craving one of these so bad lately and not only does SC have a crappy state flag they don't have subs!!!!! It was almost enough to get me to move back. It's the first thing we do when we head back to KY! I think I can do this. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can haha! Anyway I'm going to give it a try. I have to come back here tomorrow to pin and share it for some reason when I use my laptop, tablet or phone your share buttons don't show up only when I am on the PC. I will be back tomorrow. I'll just like the screen for a while until then haha.
ReplyDeleteYou can definitely do it, it's so easy. I love it with my homemade marinara, but if you have to use your favorite jarred marinara I promise to forgive you.
DeleteNope I'm going in full on! Homemade marinara it is!
ReplyDeleteWow. Now I'm really impressed.
DeleteSave any leftover marinara, I use it to make pizza, on ravioli, eggplant parm, to dip mozarella sticks in. So many uses.
Your captions are perfect for this picture, I loved them. I love a good meatball sub, this one looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteMy family just loves these subs. And I love when everyone's happy at dinner time!
DeleteLove love love your captions!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm craving a meatball sub. We always use frozen meatballs. I'm lame and lazy.
Honestly, Jules, making your own meatballs takes very little time and they're so flavorful. I hope you try this sometime.
DeleteLOL! I love how you gave this post a Wizard of Oz theme. Very cute. I've heard that Kansas looks a little like the moon in some places. Just kidding.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I never really intended to do the whole thing on a theme but I got started and just went with it.
DeleteIt's only a matter of time (and lots of money) before there are cell towers up there. For now, I guess they should have brought a satellite phone!
ReplyDeleteHA. Don't think I'll live to see cell phones on the moon!
DeleteThose little buggers won't even WATCH Wizard of Oz.......I feel like I've failed as a parent!
ReplyDeleteYou're kidding? Who hasn't seen The Wizard of Oz? Sheesh, kids these days . . .
