Character Traits: Character Poetry

Character's our chosen theme,
agreed on by us as a team.
So read on and see,
how this topic spoke to me,
Just hoping I don't make you scream.

Character Traits

Such a difficult concept to teach,
explain character, but don't preach.
He's old enough to understand,
the first lesson she'd planned,
In this, her initial outreach.

Yes, she knows he's only four,
a good little boy to his core.
Begin with just right and wrong,
to start, the concept's multi-pronged.
Master this, then she'll move on to more.

They talked and talked and talked,
while he ate and played and walked.
Play fair and don't cheat,
take your turn, share your sweet,
Her boy got it, and she wasn't shocked.

To be sure though, before she moved on,
gave him paper, glue stick, crayon.
"Your favorite character, show me.
Is it sharing? Maybe honesty?"
Then I'll check to see what you've drawn"

She could see his idea start to brew,
Proudly showed her when he was all through.
"Son what is this?"
she asked with a kiss,
"My favorite character, Mom, Pikachu."

    1. And that's just how it is with kids, isn't it? So close and then they snatch it away from you.

  2. Sweet! If only all parents let their kids be who they are.

    1. Yes, it's a difficult balance between being who they are and teaching them right from wrong.

  3. Pikachu. Well, what would you expect from a 4 year old, is my thought. Pokemon are so popular; my son was definitely into them but I don't know that much. Maybe Pikachu has the characteristics the Mom is trying to teach? These cupcakes - where do find those puddings? I must shop at boring stores that only have vanilla, butterscotch, lemon and chocolate! Oh, and pumpkin flavor in the fall. Alana

    1. Ugh, I was on Pokeman overload for years and years.
I found these Sonic milkshake flavored pudding at Walmart, I bought a bunch of the flavors.

  4. I remember my girls loving Pokemon when they were little and then a few years back it was all the rage again.

    1. I know, I thought once it died down that was it, I was surprised to see it come to life again.
