Poetry Monday's once a week.
I bet you know which day.
I don't participate every time,
But today I've come out to play.My friends assign each week a theme,
Teddy Bears is what they chose.
Now it's up to all of us,
to put our thoughts into prose.Teddy's not a Bear
When it comes to comfort,
kids love a soft teddy bear.
Ours was not a bear, per se,
but our Lambie could compare.
Lambie soft and comforting,
soothed most every mood.
Similar to how we adults feel,
when we're sreved comfort food.
Everything Bagel Pasta Salad
Every time we traveled,
you can bet Lambie was there.
Until, oh no, he wasn't,
then utter and complete dispair.
On a layover we lost him,
it was I, who just freaked out.
Frantically searched everywhere,
but boarded our plane without.
Called my mom in a panic,
and the assignment, she took on.
Quick, find another Lambie to
replace the one that's gone.
Yes! The very next morning,
Lambie'd flown next day air!
But that first night without him?
Let's just not go there.
Let's just not go there.
Long relegated to the closet,
(quite against his will),
let me just assure you that,
Lambie's with us still.
Read more poetry,
you're not through.

I’m not sure how attached I am to this ugly brown bear. My Mother had to cut his tongue and eyes out because they frightened me. But I still have him and he will be 78 years old Christmas Day. I guess I am attached. Donna

DeleteSounds attached to me!
Sooo sweet. Good save from your mom! Our Bunny-Bun-Bun suffered a similar fate and frantic substitution. (To be safe, we bought two!)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the poem!!!
LOL, smart!
DeleteLambie is so cute, many of us have an attachment with a stuffed animal/toy as a child or as an adult
ReplyDeleteMy older son didn't, but my younger son sure did.
DeleteMy attachment was to a stuffed panda that I wore threadbare. My parents tried to get me to like a teddy bear they bought when panda was falling apart, a teddy bear with a music box in it's...um, rear, but I wanted that panda. My Mom repaired it and it was somewhat good to go. It disappeared years and years ago (I'm sure my parents had something to do with that) and I could wish I still had it sometimes! My son had a stuffed bear that we left behind at my best friend's house (150 miles from where we live); fortunately she found it in time for us to turn back and get it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your friend helped you to avert a disaster.
DeleteAwww, Lambie sounds like an excellent friend. My Bigger Girl still has Spot, the green stuffed dog. She has had to restuff him and sew him up a few times, but that's okay, it just adds to the memories.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you love is worth the time and effort.
DeleteI was gifted a container of Everything Bagel seasoning but I always forget to use it. Thanks for a reason to pull it out of the cabinet.
ReplyDeleteI use it a lot, I think this is the 3rd or 4th recipe I've posted using it. Bet once you pull it out, you'll find some delicious uses for it.
DeleteI remember when I was a kid I didn't have a teddy bear I had a monster that someone won for me at a carnival. That was always the stuffed animal that I wanted with me all the time. My daughter liked stuff ducks and she still has a box with about six of the ducks that she had when she was a kid.
ReplyDeleteI love that she still has them.
