Funny Friday: All Washed Up

Today’s post is May’s Funny Friday, a regular feature published on the last Friday of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project. Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write 5 captions or thoughts inspired by that month’s picture. Links to the other bloggers’ posts are below. Click on them and see what they’re come up with. I hope we bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend.

2 TBSP Irish Cream Liqueur
2 TBSP Kahlua
2 1/2 cups flour
1 TBSP instant coffee granules
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
½  stick butter, softened
1/2 cup semi sweet or dark chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 TBSP Irish Cream Liqueur
1 TBSP Kahlua
OPT: milk, if needed
*Cream the butter, margarine and sugars until smooth. Beat in the egg and liqueurs. Beat in the flour, coffee granules, baking soda and salt starting at the lowest speed until the dry ingredients are incorporated.
*Place the dough onto a piece of plastic wrap. Enclose in the wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.
*Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover baking sheets in parchment paper.
*Take the dough out of the fridge and roll into approximately ¾ inch balls.
*Bake for 13 - 15 minutes until the bottoms are browning. Remove from baking sheet to cool completely.
* Melt chocolate chips and set aside.
*Beat the butter until smooth, then beat in the melted chocolate chips. Slowly and carefully beat or mix in the powdered sugar.

  1. Haha, those are great! "All washed up," very clever! Have a great weekend :)

  2. This is why you are our fearless leader, you are absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!!! Those lines are perfect!!!!!!

    1. LOL, like always I start out having no idea what to say and then over time the captions come to me. It's a good thing we get these pictures way in advance.

  3. Ha! That's funny, we both referenced "One is the loneliest number"!

  4. LOL...very clever. My favorite is the "I LOVE YOU" line.

    1. Thanks, Karen. So glad you'll be joining in next month!

  5. The song reference...cracks me up.
YUM cookies, oh man I want one or two or three...

  6. So glad to know that shoe is on the mend from his broken heart

  7. These are hilarious! I especially loved the one where he sings "One is the lonliest number that you'll ever do" and "Waiting for the other shoe to drop"! Good ones!

    1. Thanks. Glad to start your weekend off with a laugh!

  8. I love every one of these, Karen! Poor, lonely old shoe...
The Mudslide cookies sound really great. Is there a specific brand of instant coffee you like?

    1. No, as far as I'm concerned instant coffee is just for baking and one brand words as well as another.

  9. I love #5--hilarious! Those cookies look good, too.

  10. Karen, your perspectives are always so clever. I never even thought about writing it in "first person flip flop." lol. Have a great weekend.

    1. I may have created my own literary point of view: first person, second person, third person and first person flip flop!

  11. profile "long walks on the beach", hahaha, love it!
What time is the SHOE DROP? Does it come with fireworks?
Those cookies look delicious! Were those the ones you referred to the other day? When only three were left from the ton you baked?

  12. Too funny! Your recipes always suck me in. I hope the alcohol doesn't burn away in cookie.

    1. Well, in the cookie it will but not in the filling. You could always have a drink while baking them . . .

  13. Guess it's my turn to get a song stuck in my head. Karma's a bitch! :)

  14. I'll take some mudslide cookies to go along with a mudslide cocktail. For breakfast too.

    1. Yes, Mudslide Cookies and Mudslide Cocktails for breakfast. Lets start a trend!
