Let Sleeping Dogs Lie: Funny Friday

Today’s post is this month’s Funny Friday, a regular feature published on the last Friday of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project. Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write 5 captions or thoughts inspired by that month’s picture. Links to the other bloggers’ posts are below, click on them and see what they’ve come up with. I hope we bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend.

Cheesy Pepper Hors D'oeuvre

3 oz cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 tsp ground cumin
2 TBSP pepper jelly
1 crescent dough sheet (can substitute naan or a puff pastry sheet)
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup pepperoncini slices
2 TBSP bacon bits

*Lightly grease a baking sheet. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
*Whisk together the softened cream cheese, cumin and the pepper jelly. Set aside.
*Unroll the crescent sheet onto the center of the baking sheet. Roll about 1 inch of all of the sides in to create a border.
*Gently spread the cream cheese and jelly mixture onto the crescent sheet, excluding the border.
*Sprinkle on the cheese, followed by the pepperoncini and finally the bacon bits.
*Bake for 15 minutes. Slice and serve.

  1. All four, I say all four of your feet are cold.

  2. Perfect snack or predinner treat, game day food...any time. Love the recipe.

The daughter or son coming home, yeah, I can hear mine say that Actually they do. LOL

    1. Hope you try this recipe, it's so easy and, as you said, perfect for game day.

  3. That looks like a good superbowl treat! Yum! Also, your number three quote hits too close to home! The older two are convinced they've been replaced by the two puppers. <3

    1. Well that's the chance they take when they leave their mama.

  4. Pepper jelly and cheddar cheese and cream cheese. (Insert stomach growl here). This has "Super Bowl" written all over it. I think the pepper jelly makes it! Alana

    1. Me too, and this was the first time I'd ever had pepper jelly.

  5. Is she awake yet? I need to make a trip outside!

  6. Definitely brings a smile. How cute and perfect for holidays as well.

  7. Bwahahaha! Can't pick a single favourite today. These are all fabulous! :)
And I have to admit: I had to google pepperoncini. I'm a little smarter now than I was a moment ago...
