I spoke in my last post called A Plague, an Apple, and Science, about the changes, over the past few years in the meaning of the month of October. It's way less fun both with no kids around to try out any new spooky recipes, and the very real possibility that in a covid-denier state, we probably won't have the pleasure of opening our doors to trick-or-treaters. If you were to hold my feet to the fire (please don't) I'd have to admit that some of the October anticipation turned to dread way earlier. My birthday is in this month and let's just say that somewhere between the age of 30 and . . . now . . . watching that age number climb (coincidentally along with the grey hair number) has been heavier on the grateful side and a little lighter in the celebratory aspect of things. {{sigh}}
So although I'll be playing with my food a lot less this month, and even concentrating less on pumpkin, I plan on celebrating the apple a little more.
As the old saying goes "an apple a day keeps the doctor away." Since we all like to keep the doctor away and, it turns out, October is National Apple Month, I've decided to share 31 apple recipes. One for each day of the month. I won't say that all of them are exactly healthy, but I will guess that you'll be happy you tried them.
Just a little logistics: I've broken the recipes up into 3 groups. Below each of the graphics I've listed the recipes shown from left to right in each row. The name of each recipe is a link for you to click on to get to the post featuring that recipe.
Start with breakfast. I've got ten breakfasts and breads for you to try:
Top row:
Caramel Topped Apple Spice Bread
Apple Pumpkin Sweet Rolls
Apple Bourbon Bacon Muffins
Middle row:
Bottom row:
Apple Puff Pancake
Apple Pie Bread
Apple Nutella Pockets
End with dessert. Always. And suggestion (or eleven):
Top row:
Middle row:
Bottom row:
We started with apple breakfasts, and ended with apple desserts, so now here's apple everything in between. I've got lunches, dinners, side dishes, and even drinks:

Today's day one, pick a recipe and try it out. Thirty more to go!
Happy Apple Month.
Wow! You've been busy developing recipes.
ReplyDeleteWell, these are over a long period of time, pulled together in one place for apple season.
DeleteTalk about gathering all your apples into one basket! Very well done! Trying the Apple Spice Bread today!
ReplyDeleteThat's great. Let me know what you think!
DeleteIt's the season! /Carol Cassara (AKA JulieO)
ReplyDeleteYes it is, and we're fully taking advantage of it.
DeleteIt's apple season here in New York State and it's one of the highlights of fall. Eating, baking, you name it. Yummmmm. Right now SweeTangos are my favorite eating apple. I could easily eat an apple a day. In fact, many days this time of year, I do. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of SweeTangos, wonder if I can get those here. I'll have to look into that.
DeleteYou've given me a good reason to get some apples and other ingredients next time i'm at the store. These look so good!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have inspired you!
